Spread the love

I saw an amazing quote today on Facebook. It read like this:

“The only bird that will peck at an Eagle, is the crow. He sits on his back and bites his neck. The Eagle does not respond or fight with the crow. It doesn’t waste time or energy on the crow. It simply opens its wings and begins to rise higher in the sky. The higher the flight, the harder it is for the crow to breathe. Eventually the crow falls due to lack of oxygen. Stop wasting your time with the crows.
Just take them to your heights and they’ll fade.

May you fly to new heights….”

How great! Right?

So…. I promptly copied the quote and plugged it in the browser on my iPhone which directed me to a blog. On this blog I discovered two things.

1. I couldn’t identify who authored the quote.

2. This quote is likely grossly inaccurate and a far misrepresentation of the truth.

I started thinking.

Does it Matter? What if a quote contains incorrect information? Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Initially I though this was a bad thing. Then I thought it might be good. After further deep contemplation mixed with a little soul searching I came to the conclusion that it didn’t matter.

Was my outlook briefly changed?

Did my mood instantly change?

Was I inspired?

Did I feel the urge to share?

The answer was yes to all of these questions no matter whether I considered it bad or good.

If I chose to chase the path of the negative comments my outlook and mood would’ve changed right along with my inspiration and the urge to share would’ve been in a negative light. We humans love to highlight the bad.

If I chose to stay on a positive path (my initial instinct) then I could enjoy the moment and ride it out.

Why spend time trying to figure out Who? What? Where? and Why? When I could just take the positive moment and move on?

What do you think?
